Appeal to Supreme Court to Stay CLAT PG-2025 Results, Citing Provisional Answer Key Errors

CASE NAME: Anam Khan and Another v. Consortium of National Law University

A writ suit has been submitted to the Supreme Court contesting the provisional answer key that was made public for the recently administered Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for postgraduate admissions. The petitioners, who took the CLAT 2025 exam administered by the Consortium of National Law Universities on December 1, claim that there were a number of irregularities in the way the exam was conducted for LLM admissions to National Law Universities. They claim that up to 12 questions have been answered incorrectly and that there are numerous other problems in the tentative answer key that was made public on December 2. The petitioners claim that the online portal was shut down on December 3 at 4 PM and that candidates were only given one day to complain to the provisional answer key.

On December 9, the final answer key will be released, and on December 10, the results will be made public. In light of this, the petitioners are requesting a halt to the CLAT 2025 results announcement and the admissions counseling that follows. They also object to the requirement that a candidate spend Rs. 12,000 in order to object to any of the 12 answers. “It is submitted that even after charging an exorbitant fees of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand Only) towards the examination fees, the Consortium accepted objections only upon payment of Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) per objection,” said the petition.

The sealed envelope containing the QB and OMR Response Sheet was intended to be provided to candidates at 1.50 PM, but the petitioners say they were not treated equally because they received it after 2:00 PM. The petitioners argue that the inappropriate administration of the CLAT exam has resulted in a violation of their fundamental rights under Articles 14 and 21A.
